Wikipedia Getting Defeated By Google’s New Launch

Wikipedia,
the free online encyclopedia, has disclosed a decline of about 2
billion in its page views between December 2012 to December 2013.
Page views for the English Wikipedia decreases by 12 percent, German
Wikipedia decline of 17 percent in page views while Japanese version
falls of 9 percent.
Wikipedia
available in Indian language versions is prospering. Page views for
Hindi Wikipedia have expanded by 34 percent, 46 percent for Bengali
Wikipedia, 36 percent for Malayalam, 4 percent for Marathi, 1 percent
by Telugu. While Tamil version of Wikipedia saw a reduction of 11
percent in page views.
However,
it is being recognized that some experts are causing the decline in
Wikipedia’s page views due to the launch of Google’s Knowledge
Graphs project in January 2013. Internet observers have observed that
the downturn in Wikipedia’s page views starts because of the Google’s
Knowledge Graphs plan, as Google searches now displays an outline on
a right hand side of the screen with links to identical topics and
images.
Hence,
these two gigantic information providers are giving a tough
competition to each other.
