Google Image Search will show ‘Similar Items’ for Shopping
Google Image Search now make shopping for items easier. The Similar Items feature in Image Search utilizes machine vision innovation to distinguish items in lifestyle images and pull out related items for users. It is accessible on mobile and the Android Search application. Google's Similar Items currently supports image search for Sunglasses, Shoes, and Handbags. The organization is planning to cover other attire and in addition home and garden categories in the next couple of months.
If you want to find a picture of something, you're most likely going to use Google picture look. Google has revealed a "Similar Items" feature. These pictures are basically shopping links for items that are similar to the ones in the image search result. This feature uses machine vision to distinguish items in images as you open them in search results. Comparable Items then kicks in to display shopping results for, well... similar items. The pictures appear as a carousel with price tags and the site where they are available. You could likely consider these advertisements, however Google says finding cost and availability information in image search was a requested feature by users.
“The Similar Items feature is designed to help users find products they love in photos that inspire them on Google Image Search,” said Julia E, Google’s Product Manager on Image Search, in a blog post. Users can search for items like designer shoes to get price and availability of similar products.
